Editorial Note
At the 210th meeting of the National Security Council on August 12, during a discussion of United States policy in the Far East, there was a brief discussion of Thailand, as a result of which the National Security Council, in NSC Action No. 1204–c, “Noted that the President requested the Secretary of State to recommend means of providing visible evidence in Thailand of our intention to prevent further Communist expansion.” (Eisenhower Library, Eisenhower papers, Whitman file) That portion of the memorandum of discussion is printed in Part 1, page 724.
