The Acting Secretary of State to the Minister in Saudi Arabia (Eddy)

142. From Treasury. With reference to the request of the Saudi Government for an additional 2 million dollars worth of gold slugs, [Page 900] transmitted through the Legation on April 25, 1945,13 Treasury is prepared to facilitate the sale. It is suggested that the Government of Saudi Arabia place an order directly with the Federal Reserve Bank of New York authorizing them to purchase and ship this gold on behalf of the Government of Saudi Arabia.14 [Treasury.]
