The Secretary of State to the Ambassador in the Soviet Union (Standley)

338. Unless renewed, the present commercial agreement with the Soviet Union will expire on August 5, 1942. Please ascertain whether the Soviet Government wishes to continue the present agreement in force for another year.86

  1. By telegram No. 612, July 16, 1942, Ambassador Standley reported that the Commissariat for Foreign Affairs had replied in a note dated July 15 that appropriate instructions had been sent to the Soviet Ambassador in Washington, Maxim Maximovich Litvinov (611.6131/639).
