630. Reference Department’s telegram 469, November 19. Please ascertain and report to the Department as soon as possible the Chilean reaction to our trade agreement proposals.
[Page 606]For your own information, it is hoped to issue on December 29 public notice of intention to negotiate with Peru8 and for various reasons it would be desirable to negotiate concurrently with Chile.9
