… The Generalissimo and public opinion in general are greatly disappointed by the apparent fact that, while the relation between the Soviet Union and the Anglo-Saxon Powers has become closer, China, which has been fighting the first battles against aggression, now appears to be entirely left out of the councils of the “Inner Circle.” We fully realize that the purpose of the coming Moscow Conference is to discuss ways and means to aid Russia and to combat German aggression, but we cannot help feeling that something should be done towards China, preferably in the form of an invitation to China to send delegates to participate in the Conference so as to demonstrate to the outside world the unity of the anti-aggression. …79a
