Your 2963, May 2.1 In this connection it may be of use to you to know that with the knowledge and permission of the Foreign Office I kept a certain part of my work, principally for British relief, in the old British consulate building here, but nevertheless on the night of October 7, 1914, the police raided this place, seized all my papers and records, and when I went there in the morning the police who were still in possession informed me they were there by orders of the Foreign Office.
